Restoration
In May 2021, I found myself at a crossroads, realizing that I needed assistance to start anew. And I didn’t want to be a burden on my family. During my time in prison, I developed a profound relationship with God, and it was a transformative journey of self-discovery. However, there remained the practical challenge of rebuilding my life from scratch. At 55 years old, the prospect of starting over seemed daunting, and I couldn’t have imagined where I would be just over 2 years later.
I kept my faith in God as my guiding light, dedicating myself to hard work and embracing all that Crossroads had to offer – from the faith-based classes to the counseling services. I was convinced that God had led me here for a purpose. Working at Crossroads Treasures served as a reminder of my strengths, gradually rebuilding my self-confidence.
In August 2022, I had successfully completed Phase 1 and transitioned to Phase 2. I was filled with excitement as I embarked on a new chapter joining the team at Musee Bath. Determined to make the most of every opportunity, I devoted myself to hard work and diligently saved every penny.
Within 2 months I achieved a personal triumph – the purchase of a small car. The sense of accomplishment and independence that came with this achievement was truly empowering, and it motivated me to continue striving for my goals.
In January 2023, I was selected as one of the five women to live in the new independent living house – Hope Lives. The excitement was tinged with a touch of nervousness, but I thrived in my newfound independence, responsibly managing bills and adhering to a few safety rules.
As the months passed, more opportunities opened for me. In August, I received yet another promotion, enabling me to rent a cozy little house that I love! The process of furnishing it was made possible by generous donations, and for that, I am immensely grateful to Vicki DeMoney and Crossroads.
As I contemplate my journey, I am overwhelmed with a profound sense of gratitude and feeling immensely blessed. One of the most cherished aspects of my life is the presence of my children and the rest of my family. Their love and support have been pillars of strength, propelling me forward during challenging times and celebrating my triumphs.
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a memorable adventure to Alaska with my sisters. The experience was nothing short of breathtaking, as we explored majestic landscapes, created unforgettable memories, and strengthened the bond between us.
Looking back, I am in awe of the transformation that has occurred within me. With faith as my guiding light, the support of my family, and opportunities that life has presented, I have grown in ways I never thought possible. Each step of this journey has shaped me into the person I am today, and I eagerly anticipate what the future holds.
